Publications
Work designed to be read, returned to and used.
Signal by Allyn publishes original research, Field Notes and developing interpretations about identity, AI, work, authorship, trust, narrative and consequential change.
Some publications begin with a concrete observation while meaning is still accumulating. Others gather evidence, name an emerging pattern, develop a working interpretation or preserve what remains unanswered.
The work is published with enough structure to be useful and enough openness to remain accountable to what the evidence may change.
Publication forms
Field Notes
Long-form editorial essays and observations, usually place-led, evidence-grounded, interpretive and open enough for the reader to enter.
Field Reports
Compact, sequential publications that move through observation, evidence, pattern, interpretation, implication and invitation. They may appear on LinkedIn, Instagram, in PDFs, conference handouts, research leave-behinds or speaking follow-up. The platform is the channel. The artifact remains a Field Report.
Research Briefs
Bounded summaries of evidence, emerging patterns, claim status, implications and unanswered questions.
Working Papers
Long-form development of ideas and frameworks that remain open to revision.
Evidence Files
Participant stories, observed cases, artifacts and contextual records presented with appropriate consent and evidence discipline.
Reference Diagrams
Canonical visual explanations of models, relationships, forces, constructs and methods.
Living publication
Follow the inquiry as it develops.
Identity Gravity on Substack is where Field Notes, research updates and invitations into the developing inquiry can be published as the work continues.
Subscribing to the publication is separate from participating in research, joining a future cohort, expressing retreat interest or granting permission to publish an individual story.
From the archive
The work, in chronological order.
The archive includes publications from earlier stages of Allyn's work as well as the developing Signal by Allyn and Identity Gravity inquiry.
Original publication dates, categories and framing remain visible. Earlier work will not be silently rewritten to make it appear as though the current language and theory existed before they did.
Field Dispatches
Wayfinding
A field guide to understanding and evolving who you are
The Gen X Women Configuration
A field report on the historical configuration Gen X women entered, the forces changing weight around them, and why AI is arriving at a consequential moment.
Identity Gravity in Motion
A first report from inside an ongoing investigation into identity, movement, possibility and the forces that give some versions of our lives more gravity than others.
Field Notes and essays
This is not a hype cycle. It is a sorting mechanism.
A field note on WorkTech, AI, and the market being rewritten in real time
AI is not just changing WorkTech. It is sorting the market into companies with real architecture, trust, workflow gravity, and signal, and companies with a better demo than business.
The market does not need your brand refresh
A field note on signal, story, and why prettier packaging is not the point
Brand strategy is not prettier packaging. It is the work of finding the signal strong enough for the market to recognize, trust, and repeat.
What AI still does not change about WorkTech
A note on human signal in an automated world
AI is changing the machinery of work. It is not changing what people need to understand, trust, and believe before they choose.
When the old maps stop working
A field note on identity, creativity, and wayfinding
A piece on identity gravity, creative force, and the human work of staying oriented when the systems around us keep changing.
The problem with sounding like everyone else
When AI writes for everyone, originality becomes infrastructure
When AI can make everyone sound competent, voice becomes the signal that makes a leader worth remembering.
Stay with the work as it develops.
